大巻伸嗣の作品は、少し前に、弘前で目にしていた。
その時に深く印象に残り。東京でまた別の展覧会が開かれると聞いて、とても楽しみにしていた。
訪れたのは日曜日。しかも入場料が無料ということもあり、多くの人が会場を訪れていた。
Gravity and Graceは、福島原発事故を受けて制作された作品で、人類や動植物も含めた地球の自然と、原子力のエネルギーの関係が表現されている。
題名は、シモーヌ・ヴェイユによるという。単に原子力という存在を否定すという単純な作品ではないようだ。
真空の揺らぎは、弘前でも目にした作品。巨大なビニール布が風に吹かれて浮遊する様子は、いつまで見ていても見飽きることはない。
この作品は、西洋美術による”作者性”という考え方への強烈に批判する作品になっているように思えた。
詩人の関口涼子とのコラボレーションから生まれた映像作品は、世界の根源が垣間見えてくるような、不思議な世界観を表している。
同年代のアーティストとして、これからも大巻伸嗣には注目していきたい。
I saw Shinji Ohmaki's work in Hirosaki a while ago.

Gravity and Grace was created in response to the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident, and expresses the relationship between the earth's nature, including humans, animals and plants, and nuclear energy.
The title is said to be by Simone Weil. It seems that this work is not simply about denying the existence of nuclear power.
Fluctuations in the Vacuum is a work that I also saw in Hirosaki. You'll never get tired of watching the giant vinyl cloth floating in the wind.
This work seemed to be a strong criticism of the idea of "authorship" in Western art.
The video work created in collaboration with poet Ryoko Sekiguchi expresses a mysterious world view that gives a glimpse of the roots of the world.
As an artist of the same generation, I would like to continue to pay attention to Shinji Ohmaki.
