写真家ホンマタカシの展覧会。
会場に入ってまず気になるのは、部屋の中央の壁に空いている穴で、自然とそこを覗き込みたくなる。
暗い部屋の中には、ピアノや椅子があり、壁には写真が投影されている。
その部屋が、カメラ・オブスクラに見立てられているというユニークな構成になっている。
ホンマタカシは、スーザン・ソンダクの言葉を借りながら、写真家の上手に撮影しようとするという姿勢に疑問を呈している。
即興というこの展覧会の題名も、偶然から素晴らしい写真が撮影されることもある、という考え方が反映されているのかもしれない。
フレームに収まった写真もあれば、壁紙にインクジェット・プリターされた写真もある。美しい風景画もあれば、富士山やミラノの大聖堂を逆さに撮影した写真もある。
ホンマタカシの写真世界が炸裂しているような内容の展覧会だった。
この展覧会を目にして、会場を後にした人々は、写真とは一体どんなアート、媒体、存在なのだろうと、どうしても考えることになってしまうだろう。

The first thing you notice when you enter the venue is the hole in the wall in the center of the room, and you naturally want to peer into it.
Inside the dark room, there is a piano and chairs, and photographs are projected onto the walls.
The room has a unique configuration that resembles a camera obscura.
Borrowing the words of Susan Sondak, Takashi Homma questions the attitude of photographers who strive to take good photographs.
The title of this exhibition, Improvisation, may reflect the idea that great photographs can sometimes be taken by chance.
Some photos are in frames, while others are inkjet printed onto wallpaper. There are beautiful landscape paintings, and there are also photographs of Mt. Fuji and Milan's cathedral taken upside down.
It was an exhibition that seemed to explode the world of Takashi Homma's photography.
Those who see this exhibition and leave the venue will inevitably wonder what kind of art, medium, and existence photography is.
