交感する神と人―ヒンドゥー神像の世界（国立民族博物館） Divine Affection: Enchanting Images of Hindu Deities (National Museum of Ethnology)

 

ヒンドゥー教の神々が、インド人の生活の中にどのように溶け込んでいるかを、様々な展示品から紹介する展覧会。

日本では、ゾウの頭を持ったガネーシャが有名だが、インドで人気があるのは、ラーマ、クリシュナ、シヴァ、ドゥルガーなどの神々のようだ。

彫像はもちろんのこと、ポスター、ブロマイド、トランプ、切手などなど身の回りの品々に、そうした神々の姿が描かれている。

日本にもお寺に行けばお釈迦様、文殊菩薩、千手観音、毘沙門天など、様々な仏像や仏画を目にすることができるが、それらは生活の身の回りにはそれほど現れることはない。

インドでは、身近にそうした神々がいることが、この展覧会でよくわかった。

2階の展示では、1年を通じて、インド各地でどのようなお祭りが行われ、どのような神々が祀られているかが紹介されていて、とても興味深かった。

This exhibition introduces how Hindu gods are integrated into the lives of Indian people through various exhibits.

In Japan, the elephant-headed Ganesha is famous, but in India, gods such as Rama, Krishna, Shiva, and Durga are popular.

The images of these gods are depicted not only in statues but also in everyday items such as posters, bromides, playing cards, stamps, etc.

If you go to a temple in Japan, you can see a variety of Buddhist statues and paintings, such as Buddha, Manjusri Bodhisattva, Senju Kannon, and Bishamonten, but these do not often appear in our daily lives.

This exhibition made it clear that in India, such gods exist all around us.

The exhibition on the second floor introduced what kind of festivals are held in India and what kind of gods are worshiped throughout the year, which was very interesting.
