吉村弘 風景の音 音の風景（神奈川県立近代美術館 鎌倉別館） YOSHIMURA Hiroshi: Ambience of Sound, Sound of Ambience (Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura)

 

日本の環境音楽のパイオニアとして知られる吉村弘の、没後20周年を記念して行われた展覧会。

神奈川県立近代美術館の葉山館では、今でも吉村弘の音楽が朝夕に流されているという。

寡聞にも、吉村弘のことはこの展覧会に行くまで全く知らなかった。

しかし、よく利用している営団地下鉄南北線の音響デザインを吉村が手掛けていることを知り、急に身近な存在に感じられた。

吉村弘は、正規の音楽教育は受けていなかったが、エリック・サティの楽譜によって音楽への世界に導かれた。

そうした背景もあってか、吉村の作品は、いわゆる”音楽”にとどまらず、空き缶などを使って楽器を作ってパフォーマンスを行ったり、楽譜やその上の音符を絵画のように表現したり、写真の上に音符のような記号を付けたりと、実に多彩だ。

前から興味があった、タージ・マハル旅団に吉村も参加していたことも知ることができた。

音楽というジャンルへの視点が、大きく広がった、という実感を伴いながら会場を後にした。

An exhibition commemorating the 20th anniversary of the death of Hiroshi Yoshimura, known as a pioneer of Japanese environmental music.

It is said that Hiroshi Yoshimura's music is still played in the morning and evening at the Hayama Museum of the Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura.

I didn't know anything about Hiroshi Yoshimura until I went to this exhibition.

However, when I learned that Yoshimura was in charge of the sound design for the Namboku Line of the Eidan Subway, which he often uses, I suddenly felt a familiar presence.

Hiroshi Yoshimura had no formal musical education, but was drawn into the world of music by Erik Satie's sheet music.

Perhaps because of this background, Yoshimura's work is not limited to so-called "music," but he makes musical instruments out of empty cans for performances, expresses musical scores and the notes on them like paintings, and photographs. It is really versatile, such as adding a symbol like a musical note above the .

I also learned that Yoshimura had participated in the Taj Mahal Brigade, which I had been interested in for a long time.

I left the venue with the realization that my perspective on the genre of music had broadened.
