鶴岡八幡宮の季節展 夏（鶴岡ミュージアム） Summer at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine (Tsurugaoka Museum Kamakura)

 

神奈川県立近代美術館が閉館すると聞いて、心ある人たちは、坂倉準三の設計による貴重なモダニズム建築が取り壊されてしまうのではないかと心配したものだ。

その後、建物は保存されることが決まり、今は鎌倉文華館として運営されている。

しかし再開後、時折行われてきた展覧会の内容は、はっきり言ってパッとしないものが多かった。

今回も、ほとんどの展示はパネルによる鎌倉時代や鎌倉幕府の紹介と、ビデオの展示がメインで、実際の展示品はごく僅か。

源実朝が鶴岡八幡宮に奉納したという、直筆の3つの和歌程度しか印象に残っていない。

それでも、坂倉準三の建築を間近に目にし、その中を巡ることができるのであれば、それだけでも訪れる価値があるというものだ。

Upon hearing that the Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura was closing, those with a heart worried that the precious modernist building designed by Junzo Sakakura would be demolished.

After that, it was decided that the building should be preserved, and now it is operated as the Kamakura Bunkakan.

However, after the reopening, the content of the occasional exhibitions was, to put it bluntly, unsatisfying.

This time as well, most of the exhibits are mainly panels introducing the Kamakura period and the Kamakura Shogunate, and video exhibits, with very few actual exhibits.

Only three waka poems handwritten by Minamoto no Sanetomo dedicated to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine left an impression on me.

Even so, if you can see Junzo Sakakura's architecture up close and tour its interior, that alone is worth a visit.
