セレンディピティ（東京都写真美術館） Serendipity (Tokyo Photographic Art Museum)

東京都写真美術館のコレクション展。今回のテーマは、セレンディピティ。

セレンディピティとは、よく聞く言葉で何となくその意味は理解していたが、”偶然と才気によって、予期しない発見をすること”だという。

絵画や彫刻は、作者がその素材を比較的よくコントロールすることができるのに比べて、写真や映像は、被写体や周りの環境に左右されることが多いように思われる。

その意味では、写真というアートにおいては、セレンディピティが起こりやすいと言えるかもしれない。

北井一夫、吉野恵理香、鈴木のぞみ、エリオット・アーウィット、奈良美智などの作品が印象に残った。

A collection exhibition at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum. The theme this time is serendipity.

Serendipity is a word I hear a lot and I vaguely understand what it means.

In contrast to paintings and sculptures, where the artist can control the material relatively well, photography and video often seem to be influenced by the subject and the surrounding environment.

In that sense, it may be said that serendipity is likely to occur in the art of photography.

The works of Kazuo Kitai, Erika Yoshino, Nozomi Suzuki, Elliot Erwitt, Yoshitomo Nara and others left an impression on me.
