この美術館の開館20周年を記念する展覧会。美術館のコレクションを中心に開催する展覧会は、これが初めてだという。
展覧会を学校に見立てて、現代アートの作品を、国語、社会、哲学、算数、理科、音楽、体育、総合のテーマごとに展示するというユニークな内容だった。
皮肉な視点で見れば、この美術館は現代アートを世間に教える学校のような存在だ、という自負があるのかもしれない。
50組以上のアーティストによる、150点以上の作品が展示されて、そうしたテーマにとらわれくても多彩なアート作品を楽しむことができる。
アイ・ウェイウェイ、李禹煥、奈良美智、ヨーゼフ・ボイス、森村泰昌などの名前の知られたアーティストの作品もあれば、初めて名前を聞いたアーティストの作品もあった。
国語、算数、理科、社会などのテーマに分かれているが、正直、ちょっと無理があるのでは、と思われるような展示もあった。
概ねという意味でだが、日本のアーティストの作品はは政治色があまり強くないが、海外のアーティストの作品はは社会的な問題を真正面から取り上げている、という印象だった。
当たり障りのない内容の現代アートを展示する美術館や展覧会も多いが、この美術館にはこれまで通り、忖度しないハードな内容の展覧会を期待したい。

More than 150 works by more than 50 groups of artists are exhibited, and you can enjoy a variety of art works even if you are not bound by such a theme.
Some were well-known artists such as Ai Weiwei, Lee Ufan, Yoshitomo Nara, Josef Beuys, and Yasumasa Morimura, while others were new to me.
The exhibits are divided into themes such as Japanese, mathematics, science, and society, but to be honest, there were some exhibits that seemed a little unreasonable.
Generally speaking, I got the impression that the works of Japanese artists are not very politically charged, but the works of foreign artists address social issues head-on.
There are many museums and exhibitions that display innocuous contemporary art, but I would like to expect this museum to continue to hold exhibitions with hard contents that are not prejudiced.
