跳躍するつくり手たち（京都市京セラ美術館） Visionaries: Making Another Perspective (Kyocera Museum of Art)

 

副題にある、”人と自然の未来を見つめるアート、デザイン、テクノロジー”という見出しが、この展覧会の特徴をよく表していた。

アートとデザインという分野の領域が、曖昧になってきている。

一般的に、アートはアーティストのアイデアを自由に表現し、デザインはクライアントの要求に応える、と考えられている。

しかし、アート作品はマーケットで売らねばならずそこでは買い手の意向も尊重されるし、デザインではクライアントの要求に応える中でデザイナーの個性も発揮されることがある。

テクノロジーの発達は、その2つの分野の領域の曖昧さをさらに進めている。

この展覧会で紹介されていた作品は、作り手がそうしたジャンルを意識せずに、ただ作品と向き合って制作された作品のように感じられた。

そして、そうした作品を見る人が、その制作過程を追体験できるような内容の展覧会だった。

The subtitle, ``Art, Design, and Technology Looking at the Future of Humans and Nature,'' well expressed the characteristics of this exhibition.

The realm of art and design is becoming ambiguous.

Generally speaking, art is considered to be the free expression of the artist's ideas, and design is to meet the client's demands.

However, art works must be sold in the market, where the intention of the buyer is respected, and in design, the individuality of the designer can be demonstrated while responding to the client's request.

Technological developments further blur the boundaries between the two fields.

The works introduced in this exhibition seemed to have been produced by the creators who were not conscious of such genres, but simply faced with the works.

The exhibition was designed so that viewers of these works could relive the process of their creation.
