デザインに恋したアート アートに嫉妬したデザイン（大阪中之島美術館） Art in Love with Design, Design Envious of Art (Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka)

 

この美術館の開館1周年を記念する展覧会。

大阪中之島美術館には、アート作品以外にも多くのデザイン作品が収蔵されている。その関係をテーマにしたユニークな内容だった。

会場に入ると、最初のスペースは壁が取り払われた広い空間になっていて、その中に、高松次郎、赤瀬川原平、草間彌生、横尾忠則、などのアーティストの作品と、亀倉雄策、柳宗理、剣持勇、などのデザイナーの作品が展示されていて、この展覧会の特徴がよく表れていた。

最近でこそ、アートとデザインの領域が曖昧になったと言われているが、この展覧会のテーマになっている1950年代以降の時代においても、両者は深い関係があったことが、一目瞭然だ。

アートでもデザインでも、全てが市場において評価される時代においては、その違いを殊更強調することは、あまり意味のないことなのかもしれない。

The Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka has many design works in addition to art works. It was a unique content with the theme of that relationship.

When you enter the venue, the first space is a large space with the walls removed, and in it you can see the works of artists such as Jiro Takamatsu, Genpei Akasegawa, Yayoi Kusama, Tadanori Yokoo, Yusaku Kamekura, Sori Yanagi, and Kenmochi. Works by designers such as Isamu were on display, and the characteristics of this exhibition were well represented.

Recently, it is said that the fields of art and design have become ambiguous, but it is clear that the two were deeply related even in the era after the 1950s, which is the theme of this exhibition.

In an age when everything, be it art or design, is evaluated in the market, it may not be very meaningful to emphasize the difference.
