物語絵 嫁入本『源氏物語』（國學院大學博物館） Japanese Tales in Illustrations - The Tale of Genji (Kokugakuin University Museum)

源氏物語の物語絵と言えば、国宝の源氏物語絵巻がすぐに思い浮かぶ。

しかし、それ以外にも実に多くの源氏物語をテーマにした物語絵が描かれてきた。

この展覧会で展示されたいわゆる”嫁入本”は、江戸時代に作られたもので、公家の久我家で嫁入り道具として製作されたもの。

美しい紙の上に、細密画のように細かい描写で、源氏物語の54帖の世界が描かれている。何よりも、その色合いの美しさに目を奪われてしまった。

うつほ物語や竹取物語、そして伊勢物語などたくさんの物語が平安時代以降に生まれたが、源氏物語の存在感は、他の物語のよりも群を抜いている。

どうして、この長大な源氏物語がこれほど日本人に愛されてきたのだろうか。

その物語絵の美しい世界を楽しみながら、その答えを探そうとしていた。

However, in addition to that, there have been a great number of narrative paintings on the theme of The Tale of Genji.

The so-called "marriage book" exhibited in this exhibition was made in the Edo period and was produced as a wedding tool for the Koga family, a court noble.

The world of 54 chapters of The Tale of Genji is drawn on beautiful paper in fine detail like a miniature painting. Above all, I was fascinated by the beauty of the color.

Many stories such as Utsuho Monogatari, Taketori Monogatari, and Ise Monogatari were created after the Heian period, but the Tale of Genji stands out from the rest.

Why is this lengthy Tale of Genji so loved by Japanese people?

While enjoying the beautiful world of the story picture, I was trying to find the answer.
