江戸絵画の華 若冲と江戸絵画（出光美術館） The Sprit of Edo Painting (Idemitsu Museum of Art)

 

若冲などの作品で知られるプライス・コレクションの日本絵画を出光美術館が買い取ったことは大きなニュースになった。

この展覧会は、その旧プライス・コレクションのお披露目会。第1部と第2部に分けて開催された。

第1部の目玉は伊藤若冲の作品。中でも鳥獣花木図屏風を目の前で、じっくりと鑑賞できたことはとても嬉しかった。

桝目描きよ呼ばれる特殊な技法もさることながら、コミカルな基調で様々な鳥や動物たちが描かれているその屏風の中の世界は、さながら楽園のようだった。

この作品だけを見るだけでも十分に訪れる価値のある展覧会だが、他にも酒吞童子図屏風、義経記図屏風、住吉物語絵巻などの物語絵は、オリジナルの物語を連想させてとても楽しく見ることができた。

また、昨年に式年造替された、春日大社若宮の江戸時代の御祭図を描いた屏風絵は、とてもタイムリーな展示で、当時の華やかな祭りの雰囲気がよく表れていた。
