この展覧会を訪れた目的は、ジョナス・メカスだった。
これまで、いろいろな展覧会で、メカスの短編映像を見ることがあった。
それらは、身近な人々を撮影したり、ウォーホルやオノ・ヨーコなどのアーティストを撮影したりしたものだった。
この展覧会では、”幸せな人生からの拾遺集”という1時間ほどの長編作品を、大きな画面で見ることができた。
メカスの晩年の重要作、ということだったが、それまでに撮影した様々な映像を組み合わせて、メカスと同じリトアニア出身の音楽家が作曲した音楽などに合わせて、自分の人生を振り返る内容になっている。
”映像作家は、夜中、映像を編集して作品を作る”という趣旨のメカスの言葉が印象的だった。
メカスの年譜をじっくりと読んだり、ミュージアムショップで販売されていたメカスの著作を買ったりして、メカスという人物について、じっくりと思いを巡らすことができた。
こうしたグループ展の面白さは、意外なアーティストに出会うことだろう。
早瀬龍江は、福沢一郎の絵画研究所で絵を学び、シュルレアリスム絵画作品を多く描いた。
在日韓国人二世の林芳史は、同時代の李禹煥や関根伸夫などの斬新な作品に影響を受けながら自らも作品を製作。後年は、東洋思想に興味を持ち、書や水墨画にインスピレーションを得た作品を描いた。
潘逸舟は、1987年に上海で生まれた現代アーティスト。コロナ禍の中で中国に戻った際に、ホテルで隔離された時の経験から製作したユニークな作品が展示されていた。
決して、派手な内容ではない展覧会だったが、多様な人物や作品のアートに触れることができた。

It was said to be an important work by Mekas in his later years, but it combines various footage he had shot up to that point, and is set to music composed by the same musician from Lithuania as Mekas, and reflects on his life. There is.
What Mekas said to me was memorable: ``Videographers edit videos and create works in the middle of the night.''
I was able to carefully read Mekas' chronology and buy some of his works that were on sale at the museum shop, and was able to think about Mekas as a person.
What makes these group exhibitions so interesting is meeting unexpected artists.
Tatsue Hayase studied painting at Ichiro Fukuzawa's painting institute and created many surrealist paintings.
Yoshifumi Hayashi, a second-generation Korean living in Japan, creates his own works while being influenced by the innovative works of his contemporaries such as Lee Ufan and Nobuo Sekine. In later years, he developed an interest in Eastern philosophy and created works inspired by calligraphy and ink paintings.
Pan Yizhou is a contemporary artist born in Shanghai in 1987. On display were the unique works he created from his experience of being quarantined in a hotel when he returned to China amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Although the exhibition was by no means flashy, I was able to experience the art of a wide variety of people and works.
