高明な歴史家、久米邦武の子にして、明治を代表する洋画家の久米桂一郎は、フランス留学の経験から帰国後も洋風に生活を続けるほど西洋かぶれした人物だった。
しかし、晩年になると、日本絵画の収集を始めて、多くのコレクションを残した。
この美術館は初めて訪れたが、こうした日本絵画コレクション展は、これまでにも度々開催されていて、その度に展示作品を入れ替えているようだ。
狩野常信、英一蝶、菱川師宣、喜多川歌麿、谷文晁などの有名な作者から、あまり聞いたことがない絵師まで、多彩な顔ぶれが並んでいた。

蟄居させられて悶々とした環境の中で描かれた、渡辺崋山の鮎の絵などが印象的だった。

However, in his later years, he collected Japanese paintings and left a large collection.
This is the first time I have visited this museum, but this kind of Japanese painting collection exhibition has been held many times before, and it seems that the exhibited works are replaced each time.
There was a diverse line-up of artists, from famous authors such as Kano Tsunenobu, Ei Itcho, Hishikawa Moronobu, Kitagawa Utamaro, and Tani Buncho to painters I had never heard of before.
Karako play map by Morikage Kukuma, in which Karako playing in the water is depicted in a humorous tone.
Watanabe Kazan's picture of sweetfish, which was drawn in the agonizing environment of being confined, was impressive.
