Shinran: The Life and Legacy of the Founder of Shin Buddhism (Kyoto National Museum)

A large-scale exhibition that traces the life of Shinran, the founder of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism, a representative of Kamakura Buddhism.

In the past, the idea of Shinran, the villain Shoki, didn't really resonate with me, but perhaps because of his age, I've recently become interested in him, including his character.

Shinran's personal handwriting was exhibited, and his unique handwriting seemed to reflect the character of the person Shinran.

Various picture scrolls depicting Shinran's life were also displayed, and it felt like experiencing Shinran's life repeatedly.

In the last exhibition room, there were many beautiful treasures handed down at Nishi Honganji Temple, but unfortunately I didn't feel any connection with Shinran.

I wonder how Shinran, who said he didn't need a temple in the first place, would feel if he saw his teaching certificate and such treasures displayed together.
