江戸時代の神戸・住吉の豪商だった吉田家が、3代に渡って収集した品々を展示した展覧会。
それらは現在のカタログのような集古帖にまとめられて出版された。そこからどんな文物がコレクションに入っていたかを知ることができる。
それらの品々は、現在では国宝になっていたり、美術館や博物館に収蔵されているものもある。勿論、失われたり行方が不明なものも多くあるようだ。
シルクロードを通じて伝えられた古代ペルシャのガラス器、銅鐸や銅剣などの古墳からの出土品、書画や文房、鎧や甲冑など、その内容は多岐に渡り、まさに博物と言うに相応しい。
その他にも、江戸時代のコレクターとして有名な藤貞幹、松平定信の集古十集、松浦武四郎のコレクションなど、関連するトピックの展示もあった。
現代の人々にも負けない、江戸時代の人々の文物の収集に対するパッション、エナジーが展示会場に溢れていた。
