100歳を超えても、元気に現役で活躍している染色家、柚木沙弥郎の展覧会。
柚木沙弥郎の作品はこれまでも何度も目にしてきたが、これだけまとまった数の作品を見たのは初めてだった。
柚木の染色には、動物や草花をモチーフにした造形や、文字をイメージさせる造形、抽象的な造形など、様々なものが表現されている。
色使いもバラエティーに富んでいて、常に新しいものを生み出そうとする、柚木の創作意欲がどの作品にも表れている。
展示方法もユニークで、柚木の染物と、世界中の仮面や器などの日本民藝館のコレクションが並べて展示されていて、それが柚木のデザイン感覚の普遍性を感じさせた。
これまでは、"芹沢銈介のお弟子さん”というイメージが強かったが、この展覧会でその豊かな世界観を楽しむことができた。

I have seen Samiro Yunoki's works many times before, but this is the first time I have seen such a large number of works.
Yuzuki's dyeing expresses various things, such as shapes with motifs of animals and flowers, shapes that make you think of letters, and abstract shapes.
There are various colors, and Yunoki's creative desire to always create something new is reflected in each work.
The exhibition method is also unique, and Yuzuki's dyed goods and the collection of the Japan Folk Crafts Museum, such as masks and vessels, are displayed side by side.
Until now, I had a strong image of "Keisuke Serizawa's apprentice", but in this exhibition, I was able to enjoy his rich view of the world.
